Job Title: Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Assistant
Reports to: M&E Specialist
Purpose of the Job: To support the M&E Specialist and the Project Manager in implementation of monitoring and internal evaluation tasks.
Location: The position is based in İstanbul and requires field visits to Ordu, Düzce, Sakarya and Urfa

The FLA is partnering with companies in the agricultural sector to address child and forced labor in the supply chains by strengthening their internal monitoring and remediation systems. The project aims to pilot a comprehensive, sustainable program that implements the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA’s) Guidelines for Eliminating Child and Forced Labor in Agricultural Supply Chains and it will have a particular focus on preventing children from laboring in hazelnut production. The project will end in March 2016.
Primary Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities for this position include, Assist M&E Specialist in development of research, monitoring and internal evaluation tools for project interventions;
Support Project Manager in collection, recording and storage of project monitoring data in accordance with the PMP and internal evaluation requirements;
In coordination with the M&E Specialist and Project Manager, provide technical support to implementing partners on monitoring tools and procedures as needed;
Coordinate with implementing partners to ensure that effective data collection procedures are applied during field-level interventions; undertake field visits as needed to oversee implementation of data collection procedures;
Oversee maintenance of a robust and comprehensive project database; provide regular feedback to project team to ensure that the database is complete and up-to-date;
Assist project team in preparation of internal and external project reports;
Undertake secondary data collection and literature review to support project monitoring and management processes.

Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies or similar fields; Master’s degree in relevant field is preferred
Minimum of 2 years of experience working on research design, including development of data collection tools, data collection and analysis; strong candidates will have field experience
Familiarity with the fields of results-based management and monitoring and evaluation
Strong computer skills required. Successful candidates will have an excellent working knowledge of Excel, and have experience using database and qualitative/quantitative data analysis software
Excellent oral and writing skills in English and Turkish
Good analytical thinking skills
Strong team player
Ability to travel inside Turkey
Previous experience working on seasonal agriculture and/or child rights and/or corporate social responsibility is desirable.
